Cool Off in the Mile High City: 8 Things to Do in Denver When It’s Too Hot Outside

Alex Schupp • July 2, 2025

When summer hits Denver in full force, those bright blue skies can quickly go from charming to scorching. If you're trying to stay cool while still making the most of the season, we’ve got you covered. From local favorites to creative escapes, here are eight great ways to beat the heat in the Mile High City.

1. Grab a Scoop from a Local Ice Cream Staple

Nothing says summer like a cold treat. Visit Denver favorites like Little Man Ice Cream in LoHi, Sweet Action on Broadway, or High Point Creamery in Hilltop. Little Man even has shaded seating and misters to help you stay comfortable while you enjoy your cone.

2. Explore the Cool, Immersive World of Meow Wolf

Step out of the heat and into a surreal indoor experience at Meow Wolf Denver. Known as Convergence Station, this immersive art exhibit is packed with interactive spaces and wild visuals. It's a creative escape with full air conditioning.

3. Hit the Water at Cherry Creek Reservoir

If you’re craving time outdoors but want to stay cool, head to Cherry Creek State Park. Rent a kayak or paddleboard, pack a cooler, and spend the afternoon floating on the water. It’s a refreshing way to get some sunshine without overheating.

4. Sip Something Cold at a Local Brewery

Denver’s craft beer scene is thriving, and many breweries have shaded patios or air-conditioned tasting rooms. Check out spots like Ratio Beerworks in RiNo or Cerebral Brewing on Colfax for a refreshing pint in a relaxed setting.

5. Wander Through a Museum

Take a break from the sun and dive into Denver’s museum scene. The Denver Art Museum and the Museum of Nature & Science both offer creative exhibits and climate-controlled comfort.

6. Find a Hidden Speakeasy

Underground bars tend to stay nice and cool, making them perfect for hot days. Try Retrograde, tucked behind an ice cream shop, or Green Russell, located beneath Larimer Square. Both spots offer creative cocktails and a cozy atmosphere.

7. Watch a Movie at an Indie Theater

Sometimes, all you need is a dark, cool theater and a good movie. Check out Landmark’s Mayan Theatre or SIE FilmCenter for indie films, documentaries, and more in unique settings.

8. Take a Quick Trip to Higher Elevation

When the city feels too hot, heading for the mountains is always a good idea. Visit spots like Echo Lake, drive the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, or explore Nederland for cooler temperatures and scenic views, all just a short drive from Denver.

Hot days in Denver don’t have to keep you cooped up. Whether you want to stay in town or take a quick trip to cooler ground, there are plenty of ways to stay comfortable while soaking up everything summer has to offer. See you out there!

But beyond the spotlight, DudaCon gave us a powerful look at what’s next for agencies and the future of web design. If there was one takeaway from the entire event, it’s this: the future of website building isn’t just faster, it’s conversational, AI-assisted, and deeply integrated with the real workflows agencies use every day. Your website isn’t just a digital business card—it’s your 24/7 storefront, lead generator, and brand ambassador. At Crowd Digital Marketing, we believe every effective website is built on three key pillars: Reliability, Responsiveness, and Results . Your website is speaking on your behalf. Before a customer sends a message, makes a purchase, or walks through your doors, they’re forming opinions based on what they see online. In many cases, your website is their very first interaction with your brand—meaning it’s already communicating something long before you say a word. At Crowd Digital Marketing, we’ve worked with brands across industries—from Michelin-recognized restaurants to political campaigns and local Denver institutions. And we’ve learned one universal truth: Every website tells a story. The key is making sure it’s the right one. Here are six common messages your website might be sending—and how we help clients rewrite that narrative to better reflect who they are and what they offer.
